Geoff was born in Montana but grew up in the Salt Lake Valley in Utah. Despite having lived in other places for periods of time, Utah has always been his home and keeps him coming back. He heard about OCO from his mother, who saw a report about it on the local news. After signing up for a weekend of climbing instruction with OCO, he knew that he had found an opportunity to do something that he loved while connecting with other veterans like himself. He immediately became interested in becoming an instructor for OCO. As a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne out of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, Geoff served as a Sgt. in the 1/319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment. After one tour in Iraq in 2003-2004, He finished out his military duty and began to pursue a career in land surveying. Geoff is now pursuing his license as a Professional Land Surveyor and spends most of his time working towards that goal. When he is not working, he prefers to spend his time doing all things outdoors. From whitewater rafting to fly-fishing, camping to snowboarding, backpacking, hiking, canyoneering, and of course, climbing, he is at his best when he is out on one sort of adventure or another.
